The design of hotel rooms is all about the design, says a hotel designer in a new book.
This is because design can be more than a decoration, says Hisham Al-Jabour, a hotel and design consultant.
In this article, he describes how hotels are designed to provide privacy and security for their guests and the guest experience, as well as enhance the social aspect of the hotel.
Al-Jamour, who is also an associate professor of design at the University of Texas at Austin, has worked with hotels, resort owners and other institutions to develop a collection of design principles and concepts that guide design, including the notion of space.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Al-Ghamdi said hotel rooms could be more like “virtual worlds” and could be used as “living spaces” to encourage people to interact with each other and be entertained by each other.
